VEBA announces new Executive
The Valleyview & East Business Association elected a dynamic slate of executives at our Annual General Meeting on November 5th. They are President, Ted Rowland of the Valleyview Dollar Store; Vice Pres, Deryl Priebe of Edward Jones Investments; Secretary, Donna Rose of Interior Savings Credit Union and Treasurer, Steve Quiney of FunStuff Recreational Equipment. Thanks to an early Membership Drive, we substantially increased our membership in 2003. If you did not prepay your dues, your $50 membership is due now. Our Valleyview Fall Celebration included most of the businesses in Valleyview as well as a host of home-based businesses. Donations and funds were raised for the Kamloops Safe House with major donations being made by The Brick, B100 and the Lions Club. We still need volunteers for the evening of November 28th to help decorate our float for the Santa Claus Parade. Once again, Ralph Bell School will be joining us in the Parade. Starting in January, VEBA will be having regular monthly meetings in the Board Room at the new Edward Jones Investments office on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. Each month will have guest speakers on business issues - RCMP on Crime Prevention, an accountant on Tax Issues, Page Mine on Website Promotion. Please forward your own ideas on topics that will help your business thrive. While planning is well under way for a Valleyview Spring Celebration with food, fun, music and great sales, we are still looking for volunteers. Behind the scenes, your executive is working with the other Business Associations in Kamloops, the City and the Valleyview Community Association. We are promoting local projects including the Rivers Trail, the Bike Park, Valleyview Frontage Road Enhancement Project. And we are involved in a new Marketing Alliance for all of Kamloops. 2003 was a good year for VEBA and with many exciting things underway we are looking forward to an excellent 2004.
