For anyone who does not know our new President, here is some information. Deryl worked for the banks for over 30 years and then opened the Edward Jones Investment office in Valleyview in 2002. With the banks he lived in many towns; Osoyoos, Greenwood, Golden, Gibsons, Comox, Kelowna, Kitimat,Victoria, Prince George and Invermere to name a few. He chose Kamloops in 1998 to live after doing a major review/survey of where he would like to settle down and does not want to ever move again.

Deryl chose to open his business in Valleyview as it has the "small town" community feeling. He looks forward to working with the other businesses in our area as well as continuing to work with the City and other Associations in Kamloops in making Valleyview and Kamloops a great place to live and work.

He has always been very involved in the communities he has lived and has been President of various Business Associations and Chamber of Commerces. He was honored to receive the Province of BC's Premiers Pin for his community service.

Deryl has been married to Gwen for 36 years (Dec 12th) and has two married boys, two awesome daughter-in-laws and three grandchildren. The granddaughter born in August, Katie, was the first female born to his linage in 98 years.

Should you wish to discuss some issues or ideas you may have for Valleyview and East Kamloops, or just want to chat, Deryl invites you to stop by his office anytime at 158 Oriole Rd, or you can reach him by phone at 377-3885. He would appreciate your input.

The coffee is always on.

Wildlights 2006 : Dec 15 - Jan 7

The BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops has not tamed the Northern Lights, but it is delivering strong competition as visitors are immersed in exploding, vibrant lights synchronized to wonderful music in Wildlights 2006.

The festival runs from December 15, 2006 to January 7, 2007, every day except Christmas Day. Shows are 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission rates are $9.00 for adults, senior and youth (ages13-16) are $8.00, Children (ages 3-12) are $6.00 and children two and under are free.

The highlight of the festival is a "Symphony of Lights" experienced in the new outdoor Amphitheatre. "Emotionally it will feel like you are experiencing the Northern Lights to the sound of music. A computer synchronizes the lights with the music so that these "intelligent" lights create dramatic special effects as they sweep the audience, dance around the sky, pulse in a strobe effect and emit bright beams of colour", explains Rob Purdy, General Manager of the BC Wildlife Park.

Over 400,000 lights (mostly LEDs) create 350 life-size wildlife sculptures. The Giant Maze, Wildlife Express miniature train and crackling campfires entertained 25,000 visitors last year and raised funds for the Society's conservation programs.

The British Columbia Wildlife Park is located 15 minutes east of Kamloops on the Trans Canada Highway.

For more information, please contact BC Wildlife Park at 573-3242.
